Just finished helping my grandfather do some stuff on his truck and now my fingers smell like gear oil. Not a great smell. Off to wash my hands for the third time.

gear oil is a great smell!! Now you need to wear some flannel and grow a beard.

I don't mind it just everytime I go to drink something I get that smell. It's annoying after about 10 minutes.

I got some on a fleece jacket while pitting on a rally car at LSPR in 2008. I've probably washed it a few hundred times and it still smells like gear oil.

Gear oil IS a nasty smell, and hard to get off your hands.

Today I ended up with a mix of gear oil and CV grease. It is utterly impossible to remove, I'm considering swapping out my hands for new ones.

Just wipe most of it off with a rag then eat a sandwich, best thing to do when working on a car (aside from beer, but I don't think you're of legal age yet....).

We have it but the bottle is almost empty so it's not of much use.

It is a bad smell, but the only thing worse than gear oil smell is burnt gear oil smell. I worked in a tech center that tested axles, and occasionally they'd have one burn up in the lab...the whole building stinks the rest of the day.

That sounds terrible. After a while now it's gone away or I'm used to it now.
